Global directory

!Friendica Support
Das globale Verzeichnis für #Friendica ist ja seit längerer Zeit defekt bzw. tot.
Ist da überhaupt eine Reparatur geplant?

@Tobias

Allow your profile to be searchable globally? Activate this setting if you want others to easily find and follow you. Your profile will be searchable on remote systems. This setting also determines whether Friendica will inform search engines that your profile should be indexed or not. Your profile will also be published in the global friendica directories (e.g. https://dir.friendica.social).

Ich kann das drehen und wenden, wie ich will, es funktioniert einfach nicht. Ich bekomme mein Profil nicht in dieses Verzeichnis.

@alfredb
Hast Du unter /admin/site "Erweitert" auch das hier aktiviert?
in reply to alfredb

@alfredb
Hm, okay. Dann keine Ahnung wo man da noch was drehen könnte. Sorry.

@Hypolite Petovan there seems to be something wrong with adding new accounts to the global user directory.

in reply to Tobias

@Tobias @alfredb I've been contacted by @Raroun [Backup] to tell me the directory was down but I couldn't confirm it this morning. I'll need more details about what doesn't work.
in reply to Hypolite Petovan

@Hypolite Petovan as I understood @alfredb he tries to add his account into the global directory, but it is not done. He needs to add the rest of the missing information 😀
in reply to Tobias

@Tobias @Hypolite Petovan I still think, the directory is no longer updated. As we can see, there are many servers tagged with "outdated version", but eg libranet.de is running 2024.03-rc, what I would never name "outdated version".

@Hypolite Petovan @Tobias
I've installed my one-man Friendica in late July last year, set up everything for publishing the server and my profile as well. But up to now, none of them were published in the public directory. Somewhere in the admin panels, there is a button “Republish users to directory”, what didn't help either.

@Hypolite Petovan @Tobias

After some debugging, I noticed that my profile was indeed submitted to https://dir.friendica.social and got a response of 200 OK.

See some details here.

Nevertheless, you guess it, I'm still not mentioned in the directory.😥

@Tobias @alfredb After a cursory inspection, it appears I didn't restore the cronjob when I moved server last year. 😅

I restarted it, but the queue is massive, so it may take several days to clear it.

in reply to alfredb

@alfredb @Tobias To give you an idea of the speed:

2024-03-06 19:26:01 - NOTICE {"uid":"31d378b"}: Directories polling queue size: 0 []
2024-03-06 19:26:01 - NOTICE {"uid":"31d378b"}: Servers polling queue size: 2339 []
2024-03-06 19:26:30 - NOTICE {"uid":"31d378b"}: Profiles polling queue size: 61467 []
2024-03-06 19:27:01 - NOTICE {"uid":"bd71f6d"}: Directories polling queue size: 0 []
2024-03-06 19:27:01 - NOTICE {"uid":"bd71f6d"}: Servers polling queue size: 2330 []
2024-03-06 19:27:30 - NOTICE {"uid":"bd71f6d"}: Profiles polling queue size: 61404 []

9 servers and 63 profiles processed per minutes, this means that in theory the queue will be cleared in about 1 000 cronjob runs, accounting for the additional servers and profiles added to the queue in the interval. Given the cronjob runs every minute, it should take about 17 hours to go through the queue.

Thank you for your patience!

@Hypolite Petovan my two instances and all users are still not displayed on dir.friendica.social

sekretaerbaer.de / friendicadev.sekretaerbaer.de

in reply to OldKid

@OldKid The directory is fully opt-in. You're sure you and your users have enabled everything related?

in reply to alfredb

@alfredb @Hypolite Petovan Yes, I've also triggered the republication of each of the last two days. And last week both instances were still in the directory. Now all instances in the directory are labelled as "Outdated Version" again, but this may be because git.friendi.ca is down. Also, there are only 191 servers listed in the directory at the moment, which is far too few in my opinion.
in reply to OldKid

@OldKid Yeah, I saw the "Outdated Version" labels as well. The directory still seems to be under construction.

@OldKid @alfredb Hi, I ran a manual probe of your server but it returned 403 Forbidden, which is a hint the BlockBot addon may be blocking the Friendica Directory automated probe. When the probe is unsuccessful for any reason, the server and its profiles are pulled from the directory until the next successful probe,
in reply to alfredb

@alfredb @OldKid I ran a manual probe for both your server and your profile, both were successful and both appear in the directory:
- https://dir.friendica.social/search?q=alfredb
- https://dir.friendica.social/servers/en
in reply to Hypolite Petovan

@Hypolite Petovan Yes, I know that it works for me, I didn't complain. I just replied because you have tagged me in your previous message. The server in question is from @OldKid.

in reply to alfredb

@alfredb Sorry, I thought you had the same issue as they have, which is that their server and profile aren't displayed in the directory.
